Android is a set of software tools which will be built by Google, they are designed to power a next generation of mobile phone handsets which will be released early as 2008.The tools are based on open source software Linux - thus meaning it is free to use. It means any one can develop software for the open source platform; this will enable Android to be tailored for individual phones (such as a Nokia, Samsung, LG...), networks (T-Mobile...) and potentially users.
